stARTup Placements

TARGET is looking for volunteers based in South Wales to take part in the first series of stARTup placements.  This would suit trainee teachers with specific drama interests, actors looking for teaching experience or work with children, NQTs wanting to improve confidence and performance skills or anyone hoping to broaden their career or add to their CV.

The placements are designed for people with limited qualifications and experience to try their hands at running drama productions and workshops in local schools and youth groups (specifically Early Years and Foundation Phase).

TARGET works to promote involvement in the performing arts by encouraging young people to pursue performing arts hobbies, education and careers.  The stARTup placements are designed to appeal to those attempting to break into the performing arts/education fields, by offering them the ‘on the job’ experience that is so desirable to today’s employers.

Commitment is one afternoon a week (Wednesdays t.b.c.) for two terms: one term of rehearsals and devising and one term of performance and teaching.  The placements are unpaid but travel costs can be negotiated.  Alternatively, we can tailor a placement to your particular needs by negotiating some exciting teaching experience.

Applicants should be enthusiastic, reliable and professional.  Skills/experience in drama, dance, music, script writing, costumes, teaching, work with children or English literature are helpful but, due to the nature of the placements, not obligatory.  Every applicant will be considered regardless of qualifications or experience. A fully enhanced CRB will be required but can be completed through TARGET.  All applicants for stARTup placements must be 18 years or over.

Please note:

TARGET has also provided a number of successful 'work experience' placements for students in yr 11 (aged 15-16), in association with Careers Wales.  Please contact us to arrange a discussion about this.
