the academy (formerly The Joyce Marshall Academy of Performing Arts) is a popular weekend performing-arts school operating in South Wales, that assists young people with extra-curricular tuition in the performing arts field, whether as a potential career, as a hobby or just for fun!  Run by the TARGET Drama Support Service, its ethos is inclusivity and its special emphasis is on a unique combination of performance and educational opportunities.

the academy offers students the chance to take LAMDA drama exams outside of school time and also provides regular stage-performance opportunities for those wishing to take their acting skills further.  Students who attend the academy learn acting, singing and dancing and work together on major charity and theatre projects throughout the year.

We believe that the performing arts should be available to everyone and work hard to ensure this is the case. Consequently, we offer scholarships and bursaries every year and try to introduce our pupils to all genres of performance so that every child can find something they love.  Our next project is to stage a new youth-theatre musical Og and the Cup of Good Fortune at a local theatre in the Spring/Summer of 2013.  Rehearsals will begin in September 2012 with casting taking place in the first half of the Autumn term.
